Era of technology in this century has affected every single part of life. Computer, one part of technology developments in new century, has been integrated into school curriculum as an attempt to enhance students motivation towards learning activities. The presence of computer in educational activities leads to new situation in the process of teaching and learning that leads to the demand of computer in educational setting increases every year. It has been reported (2008) that the average number of computers in primary, secondary, and special schools in England increases every year. Number of computers in per maintained primary school showed an increase from 13.3 by 1998 became 34.3 in 2005 and it was 27 in 2006. Meanwhile, number of …show more content…
The study compared the performance between the traditional class teaching without computer aids and traditional class teaching with computer aid. It indicated the performance of teaching with computer aids were significantly better than class without computer aids in error categories of Noun and Prepositions. Furthermore, the need of word processor in educational setting becomes stronger as it may assist students to fix their writing problem up. A research conducted by Warden and Chen (qtd. in Chen, 2005) toward 381 college students concludes that computer may assist students to improve their writing errors by feedback which is received on their works from a computer program. In this case, this program may give students more opportunities to arrange without a need to rewrite the entire paragraphs and also ease them to correct mistakes they make in writing words (Norton and Sprague, 2001). Computer, secondly, is used as visual aid in the process of teaching and learning that encourages students to be more actively in class. A teacher uses the power of computer attraction to get students attention in the process of teaching and learning and a teacher finds it is easier to teach a subject of material as well as students get easier to understand what is taught by the use of computer as teaching assistance in class.
