Statement of Educational Philosophy

What is a humanitarian? Webster's Dictionary defines it as one who practices philanthropy; an effort to promote human welfare. As a child, I always knew I wanted to become a humanitarian. I have always loved to help people, which I viewed as a very special gift granted from God. However, it never occurred to me that becoming a teacher would be the best way to share my gift.

I always looked at health care options and even exceeded in the nursing program. However, it did not fulfill my dreams and standards of becoming a humanitarian. I wanted to enlighten people and make a difference in society. After starting the nursing program and working in the hospital, I knew it

As an adult, you have to learn to juggle two or more things and by joining an extracurricular activity, it will help a child learn time management. I think it prepares students for greater things to come after graduation. There is competition in the workplace, and on the other hand, there is teamwork. Whether you are inside or outside the classroom, teachers must stress the relevance of what students are learning.

I want to have a classroom that students look forward to coming to. As an educator, I think it is my responsibility to take on many roles. These roles will include being an educator, counselor, role model, and a learner. I think it is most important for children to know that the classroom is a learning experience for everyone. I think that relating the essentials to real world problems is very significant. Once the students realize that what is being learned will be useful in their lives they will appreciate it more. Like a progressivist, I feel that schools should prepare students for analyzing and solving the types of problems they will face outside the classroom. I want my students not only to learn the essentials, but also to learn them by engaging in real world activities. Students should be active participants in the learning process.
