Philosophy may not be valued by all people in society but this is because these people do not realize that they use philosophy almost every day in their lives. We all use philosophy in some shape or form throughout our day to day activity. Philosophy can be considered a system of thought or an investigation of the truth. People in society think every day, they may even argue every day and when this occurs they are unknowingly using philosophy. Critical thinking is major aspect of philosophy that people use in their day to day lives. Critical thinking is the process in which we decipher good reasoning from bad reasoning. This can be used when buying a car for example and which car would be the better choice for you. This is not the only use of philosophy to society although it may be one of the more commonly used aspects there are definitely others that society uses. These include, seeking knowledge, clarifying our own beliefs and ideas, and my personal favourite use of philosophy is argument, even if it is just arguing for the sake of argument. If you find yourself using one of these aspects, you are in fact using philosophy. Critical thinking is of the up most importance when it comes to philosophy. It brings a somewhat special aspect to society because it shows people that we shouldn’t only use our minds to think but in doing so we should be critical about it and provide reason to our process of thought.
