Throughout the book of Acts there are a few different instances of growth in the church that come after the Ascension of Jesus. The one that anyone who has the slightest bit of knowledge on the book of Acts would know is The Pentecost. The day of the Pentecost there were 120 believers all in one spot, praying to God to show them whether Barsabbas or Matthias should be the new Apostle in place of Judas, who had been struck dead by God. Acts 2:1-4, everyone in the room was filled with the Holy Spirit. In Acts 2:14-41 Peter preaches a message to the devout Jews in Jerusalem. Acts 2:38-39 states, "Peter replied, Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise is to you, and to your children , and even to the Gentiles all who have been called by the Lord our God." It says in verse 41, "Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day about 3,000 in all." Acts 2:42-44 says, "All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles ' teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing meals (including the Lord 's Supper), and to prayer. A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had." This passage from Acts shows that from The Pentecost came a great growth in the church. The passage…
