What does it take to hold the title of best president? It takes someone who has effective plans they can put in place to help lead the country upward, someone who can get the people and the government to meet eye to eye, they will always have to be ready preparing for the worst of things that can happen in an instant- a leader of superior proportions. The traits listed are those of which I believe former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt possessed. The ways in which he succeeded in handling the Great Depression with thirteen million people out of jobs, and World War II. That is the main reason why I believe Mr. Roosevelt was indeed a great president because what he told the American people was what he actually did. The Great Depression from 1929 to 1939 was the deepest and longest-lasting economic downturn in the history of the Western industrialized world. However, many wondered what was the cause of such an economic downfall. According to Source A one of the reasons was that, “There was a general rush by a large portion of our population to turn bank deposits into currency or gold - - a rush so great that the soundest banks could not get enough currency to meet the demand.” What they are saying is that many people went to the banks to take out money and after that, they would take that money to turn it into something more profitable.
