Throughout my early school years, I struggled to learn. I attended two different preschools, a kindergarten, and two different elementary schools, in two different states. During that time, I was evaluated for special education services and placed on a 504 plan at St. Albert the Great. With the adaptions and the help from my teachers, I was able to make grade level progress and move on high school, at Mercy Academy. During my years at Mercy, I learned to overcome my learning differences by asking for help from my peers and teachers. But also, I learned to self- advocate, work hard and study. Because I discovered how I learned and worked hard to achieve those goals, I graduated from Mercy with a 4.0 G.P.A. Also through Mercy’s service learning program, I got the opportunity to work with children and realize that I wanted to help children, like me, that had learning differences and challenges obtain their goals.
I kept that same drive and passion throughout my years at Indiana University Southeast, where I chose to obtain my bachelor’s degree in Special Education. I have worked hard to achieve my goals and grown as a student, and a teacher candidate. I have finished all my undergraduate course work with 3.9 G.P.A and I am starting my last semester and student teaching. I am also an active leader on my campus through the Honors Program, Honors Program Student Advisory Board, National Society of Leadership and Success, and this past summer being the Head Orientation Leader on…
