Founding Brothers by Joseph Ellis is based upon the men and woman who helped build America as to what it is today. They fought hard and long to share their opinions about how they wanted America to run. Throughout this book, we see different stories that show what these men and woman went through to set a foundation for the United States. These men and woman were a significant part in keeping the young republic alive and their friendships and disagreements show why they play a part in this. From these actions and friendships the author gives these men and woman the consideration that they deserve. To begin with, Ellis considers George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr, James Madison, and John Adams the “Founding Fathers” of our country. Ellis also includes Abigail Adams, who is married to John Adams because she played a huge role in his life while he was involved with politics. Together, these men and woman made the United States the oldest country to keep the republic alive. Even those these people fought for what they believed in, it was not easy. Most of these men favored a government that would keep power within the local states. However, a couple of the men wanted a central government that would have all the power and control people. The men that believed in federalism were; Alexander Hamilton, John Adams, and George Washington. These men were the first to rule the country, and they wanted one government to run the country…
