Ever since I was six, I took an immense interest in computers moreover the programming part. I plan on majoring in computer science, concentrating in software engineering; the required education for this is bachelor’s degree in computer science. After I graduate I plan on working as a Senior Software Engineer. According to summary report, software engineers perform “research, design, develop, and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, business, scientific, and general computing applications. Set operational specifications and formulate and analyze software requirements. May design embedded systems software. Apply principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.” I essentially have little experience programing compared to my peers in my degree route. However, I’m concerned that I’m pursuing a career that I ultimately will grow tedious of. Can I, an extrovert, be able to sit at a computer alone all day?
Today only 20% of programmers are women; however the first programmer was in fact a woman. In the mid 1800’s Ada Lovelace used an algorithm to translate an article and that ended up being the first computer program, ergo making her the first computer programmer.
